Two cute kids!!

We had a lot of fun for Valentine's Day this year.  The kids had parties in their classrooms and we made homemade valentines for their friends.  Megan wanted a butterfly with a pack of gum for the body, and Parker decided on an ipod made from a box of conversation hearts.  For dinner we had our traditional heart shaped pizzas with chocolate fondue for dessert.  

Parker is Inducted into the National Honor Society

Parker was inducted into the National Elementary Honor Society.  His teacher nominated him based on scholarship and then he had to complete an application showing leadership, responsibility and service.  We are proud of him for making right choices and growing up to be such an oustanding boy!!

 Today Megan made arrrangements with her teacher to play her guitar for her first grade class.  She was very nervous but did a good job.  She played and sang "Brother John" and "Three Blind Mice."  Then her Dad joined her strumming chords on a cowboy song.  Brian delighted the kids by playing a few songs for them.  It looks like a little girl may be taking after her Daddy!!

3 silly kids

 We got free tickets from some friends (thanks Davises!) to go to the Magical Forest after Christmas.  They have a fun train ride, a carousel and a pretty walk thru a forest of decorated Christmas trees.  The kids had a lot of fun, except Parker did not like the carousel and Colton wanted to keep riding the train.

Christmas was wonderful at the Levanger household.  Seeing the Nutcracker with Grandma on Christmas Eve really got us in the swing of things.  We also had a yummy turkey dinner and chocolate fondue, read the Christmas story, drove around and saw some lights and watched White Christmas.  On Christmas morning, the kids let us sleep in until 8 and we enjoyed opening all of our presents.  Everyone looked cute the new PJ's I made them.  I really think I overdid it this year, with all the sewing projects, baking, letters, wrapping, decorating, etc.  It was nice to have a down day with family, friends, games, naps and food.  It's nice to remember that the first Christmas was pretty simple too.  Maybe next year I'll simplify!!  I think the nicest part of the season was doing a "Christ Centered Christmas" together.  It made me appreciate Christ's birth and the people and events surrounding it more.  Hopefully the kids got something out of it too!

Parker did very well in roller hockey this season.  He has stepped up his game and ended the season with 5 goals and 2 assists.  He was also able to prevent several goals with his defensive skills.  All those 2 day a week practices paid off and his team, the flames, ended the season in 2nd place!

We were able to go to Megan's dance open house this week.  She has really advanced this year in ballet and tap.  We were able to see all her warm-ups at the barre and a ballet combo that she has been learning.  In the middle of the open house I got a surprise and was asked to come up and do a dance with her.  The end part of the open house was some tap combos and a cute Santa dance.  We love our little dancer!
