Student of the month!

We were really proud of our elementary schoolers this month.  Colton received the Student of the Month Award and Megan was elected president of the National Elementary Honor Society at the school.  Go amazing kids!

It was really fun to watch Parker perform in his final band concert of the year.  He has come a long way and learned a lot.  My favorite piece he played with Advanced Band was Harry Potter.  We also enjoyed watching him play drumset and bells with the Jazz Band.

Megan's Choir Performance

Megan enjoyed being a member of her school choir this year.  At the end of the year, they had a concert with a bunch of other schools.  It was really fun to see her perform.

We were really proud of Parker this year for his hard work in school and all that he was able to accomplish as a 7th grader.  He received awards for Straight A's all year, Outstanding Citizenship and a Special Award from his History Teacher for outstanding student.  Way to go Parker!

California Screamin!

We had a fabulous time at Disneyland and California Adventure this year (although from my pictures you would think we spent most of our time at California Adventure!)  Now that the kids are older and will go on some of the more exciting rides it was fun to share that experience with them.  Laynee's favorites were the "fishy ride" and "Boo ride" (King Triton's Carousel and the Monster's Inc. ride)  Colton loved Cars land and the Matterhorn.  Megan's favorites were Splash Mountain and the Matterhorn.  Parker loved Big Thunder Mountain.  Even though we were bummed because some of our favorite rides, like Pirates of the Carribean, were closed, we still had a great time.  Some of the highlights were:  eating dinner on Main Street while the parade passed by, watching the fireworks while riding the Casey Jr. Train, Getting almost front row seats for the Fantasmic Show and sipping frozen lemonade together.

We took advantage of the gorgeous day and went up to the mountains for a hike and picnic.  This was one of the first hikes that we didn't have to carry someone at least part of the way.  Laynee is now very independent and likes to walk by herself.  I can't believe how big our kids are getting!  At the end of our hike, we had a yummy picnic and an impromptu water fight!
