Laynee isn't sure what to think
We had a very fun October in 2013.  We did all the usual fun stuff like countdown to Halloween, Mummy on the move, pumpkin carving and visits to the pumpkin patch but we also added a few new fun traditions.  One of our favorite new fun things was a Harry Potter movie night complete with butter beer, Bertie Bott's beans, licorice wands and cauldron cakes.  We also had a very fun murder mystery party with all sorts of very interesting super heroes.

Two cute li'l pumpkins
Our family went to the corn maze earlier this year to get into the fall season.  The maze was a pirate theme this year and we enjoyed getting lost for quite awhile.  The kids also enjoyed interacting with the animals, sliding on the corn slide, swinging on the ropes, riding the cow train, competing in duck races, jumping on the bouncer, and swinging on the swings.  We also took a quick ride out to the pumpkin patch.  A fun day was had by all, topped off by a pizza dinner and ice cream.  It was udderly fantastic!

Laynee's Gymnastics Class

Just had to add this one because it's so cute!

Getting ready to try out the bars

Climbing the rock wall

Forward rolls

Sitting at the mat
Laynee and I started ad Mommy and Me gymnastics class this fall.  At first she was a little tentative, but now she loves it.  Her favorites are the balance beam and the trampoline.  I think it actually may be more of a workout for me than it is for her, but she certainly does have a good nap after this class. The only negative outcome of this class, is that she has become even more of a monkey at home, jumping on beds and swinging from bars!

After what seemed like the world's fastest summer, the new school year has started.  Colton was excited, Megan was hesitant (she had a boy teacher and wasn't sure she'd like him....she absolutely loves him now!), and Parker was indifferent.  Laynee was sad because all her playmates were gone all day but we tried to have some fun together.  Once everyone got home, with good reports all around, we celebrated with some yummy alphabet soup, homemade rolls,  and yummy chocolate and caramel chalkboards for dessert.

Colton's birthday was a lot of fun this year.  We rented a giant inflatable water slide for the back yard and the kids had a blast all day long.  Colton is obsessed with Sonic the Hedgehog right now, so I made him a sonic cake, and he and his friends had fun riding the waves all afternoon.

Parker the boy scout

Look at that form!

Not bad!

Even Laynee wants in on the photo op
Parker has been working very hard on scouting achievements.  He loves to go camping and really enjoyed scout camp this summer.  At his most recent court of honor, he was awarded the rank of First Class Scout and received his 21st merit badge.   Way to go Parker!
